Being a boarder at Aldwickbury is a happy, busy and enjoyable experience.
Everyone who visits Aldwickbury comments on the warm and friendly atmosphere, the real sense of community within the School. This undoubtedly grows from the fact that so many boys feel really comfortable in the environment that Aldwickbury provides.
Our boarding staff are approachable and always ready to have a chat. Our aim is to ensure that the boys receive a high quality of care which enables them to grow in confidence, within a supportive and positive environment.
Your son will feel part of a community, which will make it easier for him to make his mark, to take responsibility and be an essential part of the various activities. The whole ethos of the School is dependent on the way the boys respect and look out for each other and a sense of belonging, which comes through shared experience, is deeply infused.
A chance to get involved in the boarding community, even for day boys, is hard to miss. A full activity programme is an integral part of boarding, with a range of opportunities available including educational trips, music, sporting and drama events. We would hope that all boys get to experience boarding during their time at Aldwickbury, especially if going on to board at their next school.
When can I board?
We welcome all boys to board when they reach Year 5, whether or not they are considering boarding at 13+. There are "taster evenings" for boys in Year 5 and 6 to try boarding with a group of friends. From then on we have a flexible approach to our boarding provision with boys able to select a regular night or two, or even to book in for the occasional evening.
Weekly boarding (Monday to Thursday nights) is also available for those who wish to explore that option.
